Unpacking an eccentric tone of voice
The challenge
It’s no secret that life can feel cramped in London. Square footage comes at a premium, which means most city dwellers have less space for their stuff. Luckily, LOVESPACE offered flexible, low-cost storage for anyone living solo or sharing.
The solution
This was a fun one. I worked with an Art Director to come up with a concept and series of ads that would speak to Londoners on the Underground and listening to local radio. We focused on conveying familiar predicaments in a distinctive voice.
Radio ad script
'SKI BOOTS'
Characters:
MV01: Male narrator – tone/quality is deep, dramatic, resonant
FV01: Female voice of LOVESPACE – tone/quality is warm, light, friendly
Script:
MV01:
Crisp. White. Virgin snow.
SFX: Sound of an icy breeze, quiet in nature
MV01:
Before the first flake falls, you're already at the peak of the mountain.
SFX: Sound of skis, skilfully cutting through snow
MV01:
The Alps every Christmas. Whistler in spring.
No other non-pro skier is as dedicated as you.
SFX: Sound of London, traffic and voices

But for now, you bear the disappointing London summer.
SFX: Sound of thunder and the Underground
MV01:
Those hot, sticky journeys to work.
You dabble in the open-toed wedge.
The sandal. The ballerina flat.
Meanwhile, your ski boots peep from under the bed -
(Seductive whisper) Wear me, they say.
But they don't match that floral dress.
